PeonyTofu is where poetry and images continue the same conversation.
Some thoughts are easier to write. Others only begin to make sense when they become something you can see. Over time, I've learned that words and images aren't separate things. They simply tell the same story in different ways.
Many of the faces you see begin with photographs of myself. They're not meant to be self-portraits. My face is simply where each idea begins before it's reshaped into something quieter, more imagined, and open for others to find their own memories within.
I create these images to express the things I struggle to put into words. They begin with my own thoughts and feelings, but they aren't meant to stay mine. I hope they become a place where someone else can recognize a feeling of their own, remember something they thought they'd forgotten, or simply pause for a while.
If we meet somewhere in that quiet space between what I wanted to express and what someone else discovers for themselves, then that's enough.
